Paper Types
Silk
Silk is our recommended choice for high-quality results. Silk is a coated paper with a smooth finish and a slight sheen. Silk is suitable for print jobs containing text and pictures, making printed colours appear bright and well defined, and is great for readability.
Gloss
Gloss is a coated paper with a high shine. Printed colours appear bright and vivid on gloss paper, making it ideal for displaying striking graphics and photographs in colour.
Uncoated
Unlike gloss or silk, this paper does not have a coating, which gives it a very soft finish. This paper stock is highly absorbent, and printed colours have a more understated appearance. Uncoated paper is particularly suitable for items intended to be written on.
Natural
Natural paper is an uncoated paper with all the characteristics of uncoated paper. However, it has a natural off-white colour because it has not undergone the same treatment to appear the same shade of white. Natural paper is a perfect choice for those wanting a more vintage or rustic look.
Recycled
As the name suggests, our recycled paper stock contains 100% recycled fibres. Recycled paper is better for the planet and saves more than 70% of the energy and water used in traditional paper production. It has a natural look but is still very white.
Crème
Crème paper has a soft, slightly fibrous texture that feels natural. Its warm yellow tint provides excellent readability, making it a good choice for text-heavy items like Paperback Books.
Postcard Board
Postcard Board offers dual textures: smooth on one side for polished graphics and uncoated on the other for easy writing, catering to printed and handwritten messages.
Please note that we cannot bind different paper types or weights in a single item. Bound items will be printed on the same paper type and weight. Covers can have a different paper type or weight, unless it is a self-cover.

Giclée Art Print Papers
Archival Matt
Archival Matt is a sustainably sourced, high-performing, robust paper stock with a bright white hue. Capable of reproducing complex and detailed print work, its printed side has a smooth surface with a slight sheen to ensure excellent contrast and colours. This paper type is best suited for work with low ink coverage.
Archival Uncoated
Archival Uncoated is an elegant wood and acid-free paper stock with a natural white shade. It's uncoated, sustainably sourced, has high opacity and is ideal for images such as photographs and illustrations.
E-Photo Silk Lustre
E-Photo Silk Lustre has the look and feel of traditional photographic paper and produces vivid, high-definition prints. It is highly ageing and water resistant, sustainably sourced, and has no lamination.
Note: Printed colours may appear warmer due to the absence of an optical brightener (a fluorescent dye that absorbs ultraviolet light and reflects it as visible light, increasing a paper’s brightness).
Special Papers
You can preview the texture and colour of your chosen paper in your order’s Artwork tab. Simply toggle the 'Styled Preview' option to see how the texture or colour affects your design. This feature works for other paper options, such as Uncoated Natural and Crème, as well as our special papers. The preview gives an impression of your paper’s texture and colour, and the final printed result will vary slightly.
Lux White
Lux White is a thick paper stock consisting of a triple-layered board. It has an eye-catching coloured core sandwiched between two layers of uncoated white paper. Available for Business Cards, Loyalty Cards and Postcards.
Lux Kraft
Lux Kraft is a thick, triple-layered board with an earthy-brown hue. It has an eye-catching coloured core sandwiched between two layers of uncoated kraft paper. Please do not select this paper if your artwork contains white areas, light or pastel colours, as it is highly absorbent and printed colours may appear muted and difficult to see. Available for Business Cards, Loyalty Cards and Postcards.
Kraft
Kraft is an uncoated paper stock made entirely from post-consumer waste. It's recyclable, has a natural feel and is eco-friendly. Please do not select this paper if your designs contain light or pastel colours, as this paper's earthy-brown hue may absorb them and make them difficult to see. White areas of your design will not be printed. Available for Business Cards, Certificates, Flyers, Greetings Cards, Loyalty Cards, Menus, Postcards, Posters, and Invitations.
Acquerello
Aquerello is a recyclable, uncoated paper stock with a rich, cream hue. It has fine-textured lines on both sides, evoking an old-fashioned charm that suits both retro and modern designs. Available for Bookmarks, Certificates, Compliment Slips, Flyers, Greetings Cards, Postcards, Posters, Menus and Invitations.
Nettuno
Nettuno is a recyclable uncoated paper stock featuring a fine-lined texture. The lines are spaced closely together, and it’s sustainably sourced. Available for Bookmarks, Certificates, Compliment Slips, Flyers, Greetings Cards, Postcards, Posters, Menus and Invitations.
Rives Shetland
Rives Shetland is a recyclable, uncoated paper stock with a cool white hue. A weave-like texture runs across its surface, bringing a tactile element to an array of print designs. Available for Certificates, Flyers, Greetings Cards, Postcards, Menus and Invitations.
Pearl Oyster
Pearl Oyster is a versatile and recyclable coated paper stock with cool pearlescent tones, giving print designs a subtle yet noticeable metallic shine. Pearl Polar

Ice Gold

Fresco Gesso

Tintoretto Gesso

Paper Weights
What is gsm?
The term gsm is an acronym for grammes per square metre. The higher the paper gsm range, the heavier the paper.
90-115 gsm
This range of paper stocks is lightweight and budget-friendly. If you plan to send your prints by post, the light paper means you could pay lower postage fees!
130-170 gsm
This popular paper weight range offers little to no show-through - meaning if you opt for double-sided printing, print work on the other side of the page will not be as obvious. It's also strong enough to support thread-sewn binding for items like Hardcover Books.
250-450 gsm
Paper in this range is thick and offers a premium look and feel. Perfect for Book covers, high-end Flyers and Leaflets, paper stock in this range can be laminated, providing the paper is scored first.

Cover Papers
Cover papers add a front and back cover to bound items and cover the spine. To add a cover, select Add Cover on our Instant Price Calculator and choose your print specifications.
The heavier the cover paper weight, the more rigid your item will be. Please avoid adding a thick cover to bound items with low page counts, as it forces the pages to stay open.
You may want to choose a thinner cover to give your bound items more flexibility, but you can also forgo a cover entirely. This option is known as a self-cover or floppy cover due to the bendable nature of the item.
IMPORTANT: Only cover papers can be laminated, not inner pages. Read more about our cover paper finishes and laminations here.
Suitability
We offer a range of paper weights, but not all options are suitable for every product. But don’t worry – our Instant Price Calculator will not let you choose any unsuitable options.
The method we use to print your order (litho or digital) can also affect what options are available. Our advanced online system will ensure your print specifications correspond to the best printer for your print job.
For example, business stationery is printed often on uncoated paper, similar to the paper stock you might use with a desktop printer. However, you cannot produce the quality of work using digital, uncoated paper, so we would print all business stationery using a litho press.
Upgrading and Variations
Occasionally, the paper weight you request for your prints goes out of stock. Instead of delaying your order, we will upgrade the paper weight and print your work on the next weight up. This is a standard procedure in the printing industry, and we will not charge you extra. Plus, we will never downgrade your paper either.
While not an issue for most, it can affect postage costs if you plan to send your prints in the post. If you must have a specific paper weight, let us know before your work goes to production.
Variations in paper production
Paper is a natural material supplied by paper mills in batches. Therefore, there can be weight or thickness variations between batches, resulting in a paper up to 10gsm heavier or lighter.
We may also buy our paper from different merchants, which can sometimes lead to variations in our paper stock.
Environmentally Friendly
At Mixam, we know our impact on the environment matters. Sourcing materials with minimal environmental impact, we work hard to ensure we leave the lightest possible carbon footprint from the beginning and end of the printing process.
